Management changes at Texel

04 June 2026: The Texel Group (“Texel”), the leading independent specialist credit and political risk broker, is pleased to announce William Shaw, currently deputy CEO, will become CEO subject to regulatory approval, completing the succession planning Andy Lennard set in motion three years ago. Andy Lennard, currently CEO and Executive Chairman, remains Executive Chairman of Texel and Chairman of the Texel Foundation, Texel’s philanthropic arm.

Andy founded Texel in 1997 and since then it has grown to be a global independent brokerage with over 100 employees across offices in Brussels, London, New York and Singapore, supporting financial institutions, corporates, development finance institutions and multilateral development banks with credit risk insurance. In 2025 Texel transitioned to an employee ownership trust (EOT) to ensure its long-term independence, protecting its unique culture and directly rewarding the dedication and hard work of its employees.

William has been with Texel for over 20 years. He initially joined Texel’s London office before moving to the US in 2006 to establish the Group’s Americas business. In 2012 he moved to Singapore to establish and run the Group’s Asia Pacific business. He returned to London in July 2024 as Deputy CEO.

Andy Lennard commented: “When we started the management transition three years ago, I said I would step down as CEO at the appropriate time. It is fitting to step down as we approach a milestone date for Texel – the anniversary of when we became an employee ownership trust and a key point in our succession plan.

William is a Texelian of great integrity and ability and encapsulates our reputation for delivering excellence. He is widely respected internally and externally and the fact that we can hire from within demonstrates the extraordinary talent that we have.

Texel is built on the strongest of foundations – of mutual respect, talent and care for each other. I remain fully committed to the long-term future of the company and will continue to share in its extraordinary voyage. It’s an exciting adventure ahead.”

William Shaw commented: “It is a privilege to take on the role of CEO of a company I have seen grow under Andy’s leadership and vision, from just four people when I joined in 2003 to a truly global business, driven by passionate, multifaceted colleagues with shared values and focused intent. It is a company I am incredibly proud to be a part of; I get to work with the very best in the business to deliver advice and innovative solutions that set the standard for our industry. We are in a strong position as we head towards our 30th anniversary and I am excited to work with my colleagues as we embark on the next 30 years of Texel.”
